International Archaeology Day

International Archaeology Day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday in October. The archaeological organisations around the world present archaeological programs and activities for people of all ages and interests. The Archaeological Base in Mikulčice regularly joins this event and organise own guided tours of the site.

The focal aim of the International Archaeology Day is to raise the awareness of our common archaeological heritage. The public can join various and interesting activities, which provide a chance to uncover the past and experience the thrill of discovery. However, we mainly celebrate the importance of archaeology in general as this special day should emphasise the idea that archaeology is everywhere around us.
